    Default Time for some upgrades!

    werthliving.com

    Upgrades in the works!

As some know, I have had Klipsch RF82 towers and a RC62 center powered by the 4520ci (preamp) and XPA-3 amp. Well, I think we are getting close to building (early next year) and the HT room is coming, so I felt like spending a little money.

My first want for my HT room were the Klipsch RF-7II towers. These are cream of the crop towers, and normally run $1600 a pc. The retailer I bought my original LCR's from had a pair of them "scratch and dent" for $1400 (for both) and assured me it was nothing. Box just got bumped around during shipping. So I pulled the trigger

    http://www.klipsch.com/rf-7-ii-floorstanding-speaker

    FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 30Hz-24KHz ± 3dB
    SENSITIVITY: 101dB @ 2.83V / 1m
    HIGH FREQUENCY HORN: 8" square 90° x 60° Tractrix® Horn
LOW FREQUENCY DRIVER: Two 10" (25.4cm) Cerametallic cone woofers
    WEIGHT: 87.1lbs (39.5kg)

Part of the pricing is, these are still made in the USA Klipsch, other lines are overseas. The horn is much larger than the RF82 I have now, and instead of dual 8's I will have dual 10's. Will def cross these at 60hz...

Next up is trading the XPA-3 back to Emotiva for a XPA-5 (200w x 5). I am a member of the e-club so I can do this for minimal hurt.

Final move will be exchanging my current reference series center with the smaller horn and dual 6.5" woofers for the one that is matched to the RF7's. It has the larger horn and quad 6.5" woofers. Should be getting that around 6 months from now.

    Fun times!

I emailed Emotiva and they got back to me today. All I have to do is give them payment info and they will charge me discounted rate on XPA-5, and I can ship the XPA-3 back for free.

No. Only one dealer here and it is not very close. They are also a used car type dealer. I hate it too, because they have paradigm and other great sutff. Before they even let you listen then wanna come consult at your home. Annoys the hell out of me.

I love my Def Tech speakers, so m certain the GE's are great.

Found a good deal on a Outlaw Model 7500 so I pulled the trigger. Should have it by week's end, and the R7ii's arrive tomorrow.

Decided, after a lot of reading, that the Outlaw (ATI Made in the USA) just offered better specs than the XPA-5. Granted both are 200w x 5, the Outlaw has more output devices per channel, more capacitance per channel, and more transformer(actually has two). I can now sell my XPA-3 for more than the trade in value too.

Oh yeah. One little mixup though, one of the "Black" boxes actually had a cherry colored tower. That was the one I opened first, and after looking at it, I told him Id keep the cherry and send the other black back. Luckily I never opened it. He is trying to setup a return, and will ship the second cherry tower out tomorrow. He is a reliable guy, so shit happens. Plus this cherry tower I have has zero flaws I can find for being a "scratch and dent". So i made some huge savings.

Saw this posted elsewhere and had to buy. Figure it will fit nicely on the wall behind one of the RF7ii's.
