    Hi zoran94022,

No, unfortunately Robert Zohn/Value Electronics is no longer a sponsor. Adormama is a site sponsor, though; I suppose you could try them: http://adorama.evyy.net/c/76200/78387/1036.

As best I can tell, the only site sponsor here anymore is Adorama.

Wow, Robert looks wiped out. Happy, though.

Did Robert say anything about what he thinks of it? Is it up to snuff?

I'm real curios for 2015. The recent announcement of a 65" LG UHD OLED for something that doesnt cost as much as a new car is very interesting. That and their 2013 55" OLED was $2500 on Amazon recently. Fun times.

I recently had a Sharp 2014 Q+ 70" in my living room, chad calibrated it as well as touching up my VT50. After some side by side comparison, no way in hell do I want that 70". It's not even close to the VT50 and I think part of my issue is the inherent side lit LCD problems. I just hope the VT50 holds out until I can get a 65 or 70" OLED in my range.

Of all the issues that LCD/LED has shown over the years, the biggest deal-breaker for me has been the issue of viewing angles. It just annoys the wholly sh*t out of me. Maybe some day LCD/LED Mfg'ers will fix this problem. But maybe not, and until this issue is fixed I would not consider purchasing one. I REALLY do hope OLED comes through in the next few years. It would be the only self-illuminating display produced, as was Plasma and CRT before it.

The view angles are bad, and the Sharp was no different. Other than the blacks, sitting straight on at 10ft it produced a nice image, then things got funky off center.

The other amusing find was the Q+ (psuedo 4k) technology actually made the image worse... The new top of the line XBR is an outstanding LED LCD and Chad reviewed it. Problem is, the 65" has an msrp of $8000. Thats ridiculous. The new 65" UHD OLED LG should start at $6999 this fall, so we are making progress. Once a 65" UHD OLED meets the sub $4000 range, they have me. So I figure 2016 before I buy a display, plus the AVR's and players need to work out their 4K kinks and we need 4K discs.

Anyone know if a 65 Oled will be coming out that is not 4K?Im getting the impression that 4K will not be needed on an Oled because the PQ is so much better than anything out there. If you have a large dvd collection it would be counterproductive to have it upscaled all the way to 4K.Unless Oppo comes out with a miracle upscale chip I doubt old dvd films and concerts are going to benefit by being displayed on a 4K screen.

Not sure on that. I think going forward we are going to see the native resolution of most premium sets be 2160p. I think you will have plenty of 1080p led lcd's, but Im not sure once OLED goes 2160p, that they go back. Could be they have both, but I figure itll be like 1080p and 3D now. Most premium sets just have both to begin with, and I think OLED will be a "premium" set for awhile.

On the flip side, maybe there is a substantial cost difference and they will offer cheaper 1080p OLEDs. That sure would be nice!

I'm pretty sure the Mfg'ers will offer both 1080p and 4K. That is if they keep to their usual pattern of releasing video tech. First will be be the 1080p displays at a premium high-end sales point. Then after a generation or two, Mfg'ers will add the 4K versions as the flagship model, keeping the 1080p displays for the mid-to-low tier of their model line. Think how long Mfg'ers hung onto to 720p displays. I bet lots of people could give a rat's behind whether or not a TV is 1080p or 4K, but rather what's cheaper.

I've been out of the TV market for a while now... Anybody know if there is anything on the horizon that will match the PQ of last year's champion, the VT/ZT60?

In the immediate future odds of that look low. In the longer term, OLED might have a shot at it.

LG has one for the shootout this year, and among those with the necessary money to burn, it has been a popular seller.

Hope you are right.Just cant see loosing good PQ on my huge dvd collection just to satisfy 4K upgrade. They should look spectacular on a 1080P 65 Oled with oppo 83 player.
