    PRICE $1,999

    AT A GLANCE
    Plus
Bargain price for a 65-inch Ultra HD set
    Good blacks and shadow detail
    Impressive sound
    Minus
Clips above white and below black
    Odd gamma
    Typical LCD off-axis performance
    Wobbly stand

    THE VERDICT
The JVC required considerable tweaking to get the best from it, but once dialed in, it looked excellent with 4K test patterns and 1080p Blu-ray material

JVC and Sharp are not in Real contention with the top runners, LG - Samsung - Sony - Panasonic etc. all of the serious contenders are back into OLED mainly due to LG products reception by the buying public and media coverage

    I agree.

That said, pretty nice 65" UHD LCD for that MSRP. Be nice to see some 70" range OLED's in UHD getting under $4k.

I'm also not fond of Samsung's statement that they will not release any new OLED's in 2015.

I heard (rumor mill) they working on flat OLED vs curved panels, which went over like a fart in church. And LG has been able to produce moderately priced quality panels. And Sony is back on the OLED track again..Only problem I have is that, no one's committing to longevity, which is supposedly not very positive.

Hopefully the inkjet stuff comes on full force and makes for cheap oled panels.

Not to mention that JVC isn't even a real HDTV brand any more (they still make excellent projectors in-house), their flat panel line however, has joined other brands like Philips, RCA, etc. in being licensed out to a random Chinese manufacturing concern. http://hdguru.com/an-hdtv-by-another-name/

Yep, even Sony panels aren't Sony panels. Sharp makes their own, LG and Samsung still make certain sizes, rest are Amtron and other companies.

Its funny, look at Sony 3D tv's. Same model, different screen size, one is passive 3D and the other is active. That is because two different screens on the same model are made by different companies. And they wonder why reviews are all over the place.

With LCD's now, just because the 65" reviews well, don't ASSume the 55" or 70" will...

I agree, reviews, to me, are just a foundation of information necessary to help me achieve a little education about the panel I'm interested in rather than just blind faith formed by promotions.....the CES is a great place to do a visual comparison, but we're all not fortunate to attend. Reviewers have a limited time to inspect / review/ and calibrate and then publish results. Forums give you access to OWNER's actual findings and impressions and members of those forums usually start with buyers question panels performance oddities. Helpful in knowing what defects to be aware of.

LG seems to have the answer to quality/cost now if they can only release a longevity schedule ....? too new I guess these technologies are being released prematurely with the buying public being their crash-test dummies
