Default HDMI pass thru on Pio SC-37

    werthliving.com

Hello Junkies, just thought I would throw this out there, I tore down my HT set-up to re cable and clean so I could add the Apple TV back into the mix. My recvr is an Elite SC-37, My panel is a Kuro. I wanted to run my motorola dch3200 HD box into hdmi-1, then the ATV into hdmi-2, followed by my blu ray player into hdmi-3, then take one hdmi cable to the Kuro. I thought hey after all this time why not hook it up as I always intended, before this I ran two hdmi cable up to the Kuro and ran optical/digital to the recvr for audio only, that works but the way I am trying to run now should work as well but it doesn't, no matter which settings or which ports I try it just will not pass thru. I need the pass thru so wifey does not always have to fire up the entire HT system to watch a program, the speakers on the kuro are just fine for occasional viewing. I am looking for any insight as to what I may be missing here, thanks sawz.

Usually you need HDMI CEC turned on to do standby HDMI pass-through, is that enabled on both the TV and receiver?

Thanks Bud, yeah I turned on basically every thing that the manual says to and still no go, it stinks too cause I will need hdmi splitters/switching to get what I need into the Kuro and theres 5 inputs on the recvr that are basically useless to my needs without offering a clean pass thru when recvr is off, maybe I am missing something simple but two days of trying did not get it done

OK so after a weekend spent cleaning and re-routing I still find myself stuck with this issue of no pass thru signals when the AVR is in the off/standby mode, and honestly this is just unacceptable with this caliber receiver. I am ready to off load and re visit other options as the pass thru was always a priority in my HT.

Sorry man, I wish I could think of something. I'd say maybe you should run component and stereo audio cables from the cable box directly to the TV (so you have two paths, one through the AVR (HDMI), one direct to the TV), and then just do pretty much what you had done in the past, use the TV on a different input for the casual TV watching :-/

Just to check. According the SC-37 manual (p. 37).

From the Home screen choose: System Setup --> Other Setup -->HDMI Setup

You need HDMI "Control" set to "On" and "Control Mode" set to "All", you might also want to try the "Standard" setting for "Standby Through" if it's been set to "Eco".

I did all of the above, funny thing about the stanby thru, that setting works pretty good as a pass thru of sorts, thing is the AVR has to be on for that one to work thats why they offer the eco setting so you use less energy, it turns off the Amp section and lets the signal pass to the Kuro for sound.
My idea of pass thru is the AVR off and unmolested signal going thru to the kuro

Yeah that's really weird, and not the behavior I'd expect at all.
