    Default Changes to Emo's XMC-1

    werthliving.com

Looks as if this this bad boy is about to come out. They are now taking reservations and have new pics of the inside up. It also appears they have changed the room correction technology from TaCT to an exclusive Emotiva specific version of the Dirac Live™7.2 Room Correction System. Does anyone have any info on this system? is it any good? How does it compare to Audyessy, Anthem room correction(ARC), etc?

Looks to me to be just like, or very similar to ARC. I wonder if it comes with the mic and tri pod like anthem's do?

Here is a link to their site. LINK

Anthem developed ARC in-house. (The engineers working on it had previously worked on Canada's Athena project, which focused on DSP for room correction.) It's very hard to know what these various systems are doing under the hood, unfortunately. I wish there were good, objective reviews (not the stuff in audiophile mags) available of these things, as the results can vary considerably. A while back Harman compared three available systems (Audyssey, ARC, and Lyngdorf DPA1) and two prototype systems of their own to sound without correction and found big differences. See http://seanolive.blogspot.com/2009/1...uation-of.html. Unfortunately, as is typical in these sorts of efforts, they don't specify which system is which.

This nit has Ben about to come out for over a year since I have been watching.
I put in a reservation last December.

It sounds like they were having issues with TaCT and had to switch mid stream. I can see how that would delay the unit. I cant even find TaCT's website anymore. Looks as if they just folded up.

I have read are changes coming to the XPA amps to move to all black.
I would like to see the XMC-1 in all black as well. No silver bits please

I have a Marantz AV8801 which I use in Pure Direct mode.
I have done some comparisons between the 8801 analog in from my BDP-105 and the B-105 connected directly to the Parasound A51. It never sounds as good, close though.

I think they pack so much crap into these Processors that I wonder if the manufacturer truly understands them after they patch together all the APIs.

The feature set of the XMC is pretty much spot n for my needs.
The Classe SSP-800/CT-SSP are great but way overpriced.

I am still hoping Oppo comes out with a Preamp.
