    Default Ordered a Emotiva UPA-500

    werthliving.com

Will be here Friday. Im going to use the new Denon X4000 with Audyssey XT32 as the pre pro, and then power the Klipsch with the UPA-500.

Denon will be here today, getting 12v trigger cable today, and Emotiva and interconnects arrive Friday. Should be fun...

Just looking it's review and my modest 3.1 system, Im guessing a little over 100wpc available to the Klipsch, which should drive them cleanly. Also hear it stays pretty cool which is nice too.

    LOL.

Im not really thinking the Emotiva has more "power" than the Denon, what Im hoping is that the high capacitance of the amp offers more in headroom. Im dealing with a room thats roughly 8300cuft when you throw in the dining area and kitchen. Hopefully it add more to the detail of the sound.

Here are some shots of the x4000. I kinda rearranged my stand yesterday and organized the wiring, and will have to do more Fri night Sat morning if the UPA makes it in tomorrow. Lotta gear crammed in a small area.

Front is almost identical to 3313ci, some of the badges are in a different spot

I like the new layout on the back

Mono 12v trigger cable for amp

New remote has brushed look like front of AVR, looks better than 3313ci gloss look

Menu's are a little nicer on the X4000, but they were also nice on the 3313ci. I ran Audyssey XT32 last night and its the same as running XT in execution. Would be a little different if I had the second sub.

Headroom is kind of a vague notion. There is a specification called dynamic headroom, which indicates how much above it's rated steady-state power an amplifier can deliver in short bursts. In any event, it's all about power, and as long as you're not ever clipping an amplifier, adding more power or headroom isn't going to make any difference. And if there were a difference, it would be in reduced or elimination of distortion on strong peaks, not really detail under normal circumstances.

Im starting to read more about that. The one consistency I note in "owner" comments is that a standalone amp of roughly equal power (I figure the UPA-500 and X4000 amps are similar in that regard) offers a more clean sound than an AVR. I do not have a dog in that hunt, but I take it as it does not play "louder", it's just a better sound at the same volumes. I do not know enough about amps to comment on that either way.

I guess the issue is, will the UPA-500 add anything/or take away something vs the Denon 125watt amps on the higher end models? I regularly listen to blu-rays at 0.0db on the Denon volume setting. Many times a 7.1 lossless track requires me to go to +2.0 db.

I also keep hearing about "low noise floor" on stand alone amps, but you might as well be speaking Mandarin lol!

You'll eventually find out about all of these terms with the way you go through equipment.

Glad to see you are still alive smartass!

This is the only amp I can fit without buying a whole new stand, so I figured what the hell. $400 and a 30 day return policy.

I've never known you to keep a piece of equipment for longer than 6 mos. Always have to fuk with your setup don't you. LOL Yeah I see a bigger amp or 3 in your future. If only I was childless....I would be right there with you.

Got a nice cozy spot for the amp made. Spent 4 hours on the stand, pulling it out and all the, re-routing the wires and drilling holes for the shelf movement.

Looks like you have enough room for one of these!
