    Default Anthem MRX 700 ??

    werthliving.com

I'm posting this on behalf of my buddy. He is really wanting to buy an amp, and he has a dealer locally that has been very good to him. Currently, they have an Anthem MRX 700 that is a floor model and he's wanting to sell it to him. Does anyone have any comments?

    1. About Anthem amps in general
    2. About this specific amp

    Thanks brothers!

Gos if I were buying an AVR that would be the one I would go with. Only drawback I see is that it does not have 7.1 analog inputs. Now I don't know if that matters allot to your buddy or not.

It does have the best room correction in the business IMHO, and comes with a calibrated mic and stand, which is pretty bad ass IMO.

The room correction (ARC) is a bit more hands on than others, but that is also why it is better.

At the end of the day with the Anthem AVR's you give up a few Features, but it makes up for it with performance. I have yet to hear anyone say anything bad about it!!

Here is a good review on it. LINK

Thanks guys. Actually, I talked to my buddy again and I didn't have the whole story correct. He is being offered the 700 floor model, or he can order a new model called MRX 710. Same story...anyone have any feedback on the 710? He would have to spend another $500 or so to get the 710...but I know he loves shiny new models....so probably the money won't be the defining factor.

Info on the new receivers here: http://www.anthemav.com/downloads/an...sheet/download. Big changes seem to be improved ARC and 4K scaling capability. Anthem (Paradigm's electronics line) makes great stuff. If I were buying a receiver and could handle the price, I'd buy one of theirs.

It looks like the 710 does have some nice upgrades, and the look of the unit is sleek as hell IMO. With the upgrades to ARC that I am reading about it looks to be a worthy upgrade, especially if your friend is some one who likes buying newer models. If money isn't an issue, it is a no brainier tell him to go with the Anthem, they really are that good!! I mean me and MDRiggs are agreeing on that so that must mean something!! LOL!!

I'm thinking about selling my Denon 4311ci and getting me one of those new Anthem's myself.

The MRX 710 has a very attractive design, with an elegant and understated black brushed aluminium facia that is refreshingly free from clutter. It’s good to see an AV receiver manufacturer who realises that you just don’t need loads of buttons and controls on the front, you can do all that from either the remote control or through the menu system.. One of the few criticisms that could be levelled against Anthem’s previous generation of receivers was that they were rather limited when it came to HDMI inputs but that’s definitely no longer the case. The MRX 710 has eight HDMI 1.4a inputs, seven at the rear and one at the front, along with two HDMI 1.4a outputs.
