Emotiva has released yet another affordable amp, check it out!

You spoke, we listened! The UPA-700 seven-channel power amplifier delivers seven channels of superb quality audio, reliably and efficiently, in an elegant, compact, and stylish package – and does so at an amazing price. The UPA-700 has plenty of power to provide a truly dynamic cinema and music experience, with the incredibly smooth frequency response and low noise you've come to expect from Emotiva. You'll clearly discern every nuance in a well recorded piece of music or a crowded scene with complex dialog and effects. Inside, it boasts our proven short signal path class A/B topology, an oversized toroidal power supply, sophisticated protection circuitry, and top quality construction. On the outside you get our classic solid milled aluminum faceplate tied to a heavy steel chassis with full-sized five-way binding posts, gold plated RCA jacks, and informative front panel status LEDs. The UPA-700’s quality construction and conservative ratings enable it to deliver full power, even with all channels driven, and our advanced engineering ensures that it will deliver the goods year after year, hour after hour, even into complex or difficult loads.

Nice price, but I think Id use that money and get a nice AVR. 80x7 driven is less than many of the nicer Receivers do at 7 channels driven. I'd go for no less than 100w per channel if buying an amp.

I'd still love an XPA 3, I just dont have room for it unfortunately.

They have a couple of new ones. Some new 225watt mono blocks too that look to be a great way to start a system a new 120 watt stereo amp and a new 2.1 channel analog preamp.

Difference between 80 and 100 watts is less than 1 dB. A 100-watt amp is probably easier to sell, though, if you ever wanted to.

Yepp. I'll prob be aiming for 150-200w per channel when I finally do my room, and that will probably overkill with my speakers.

Not many receivers will do all channels driven anywhere near 80 watts. 2-channels yes all 7 no way. There may be a few higher end ones that will but the majority not even close.

If the truth were told, in a multichannel system with a powered subwoofer handling all the low bass and speakers of typical sensitivity, most people would be fine with 25 watts/channel.

Yeah, I always have to catch myself getting sucked into the power ratings game with 98db speakers crossed at 80hz and a big ass sub.
