Default Looking to jump to preamp/amp setup from Onkyo AVR......?

    werthliving.com

I'm getting the infamous HDMI issue with my Onkyo 706 AVR...

Not sure if these mass market products really last long, but now am looking at Emotiva/Outlaw etc
for maybe a $1k setup for preamp/amp combo...

    any thoughts?

    thanks

I am that "friend" RayJr spoke about and I can say, after living with both the UMC-200 AND Outlaw Model 975 for a few months now, either option listed above should suit you just fine. The combo of the UMC-200 with Emotiva's UPA-700 is phenomenal (in truth the UPA-700 may be the better value). Personally, I am a bit more partial to the Model 975 for I like it's sound just a little more than the UMC-200, however, it is by no means as well equipped -especially if you rely on or like features like auto EQ. The Model 7075 or 7125 from Outlaw are both stellar amps with which to pair the 975 to. The ONLY issue either has had has to do with streaming (note I said streaming) full 7.1 soundtracks on Blu-ray quality encoded .mkv files. For what ever reason this causes occasional drop outs (sound) with both units. It doesn't with my Integra DHC 80.2 conversely. Regardless, if you use discs -say Blu-ray - then you will not have this issue as it only seems to occur intermittently with high-res streaming files -not Neflix or Vudu etc. Good luck!

Guy's I think those are both great idea's!! Truth be told in that price range the OP won't have too many choice's it will be either the emotiva or outlaw. Now thus far I have heard good things about the UMC-200 and have thought of getting one myself.
