    Don't give a lot of weight to LG PRs...they are lucky if they achieve 50% of the claims they make by year's end.

    Fair enough, but a report on CNET actually cites model numbers for multiple LG OLED displays, which typically indicates they will be commercially available.

    Panasonic uses a different technique for OLED manufacture, so the two companies could be at very different points on the cost and yield trajectory.

    Almost certainly. But I was talking about where Panasonic should be, not where they are. If LG are achieving a higher yield than Panasonic can currently achieve, then LG have mugged them right off. If I was Panasonic, I'd be a bit embarrassed by that.

    The manufacturing approach everyone else is taking has been around quite a bit longer. I think the hope was that the newer method would eventually be easier and cheaper, but so far, apparently not.
