Damn...$1198 is called mid priced? Hm...maybe so I guess. I suppose there is LOW, which goes to the $500 ranges and mids go to the $1200 range and high end is $1500 and higher maybe....lmao

    Who knows.

In Sound and Vision world, where they routinely review $1000+ A/V gear I guess it is "mid-priced" LOL.

Nice to see more HDMI 2.0 receivers announced tho :-)

My basic 2009 Denon (no OSD via HDMI, HDMI 1.3 only) is getting long in the tooth, though it's a great basic receiver, I anxiously await the announcement of new Denon line-up

Oh boy....you and me both. Mine is also long in the tooth.....and...I want a new Denon. I seriously doubt I go with another brand.

For me...so much more important than a new panel...it really is.

Check the Onkyo web site - they have a page where you can put your Serial Number in & check to see if your unit qualifies for their Extended Warranty program.

Eldest son has received notice that the warranty on his Onkyo is extended - believe through 2018.

Picked up a NR626, partly because it was too darned INexpensive not to, partly due to son's positive experience with his Onkyo - and partly because our Pioneer is 15-years old and never heard of HMDI (although it does decode Dolby & DTS 5.1!).

This particular unit was built late in 2014, and its Serial Number does NOT show up on the Onkyo list - but at least there is SOME precedent that suggests they may do the "honorable thing" should another mass glitch crop up.

In any event, so far, so good.....
