    Default Denon AVR-X5200W & X4100W review

    werthliving.com

These new Denons should be a lot of fun. Is it time for GOS to upgrade? It might be time....

Though Audioholics does have a forum, it's really an Audio online magazine...so I have no problem linking them up here. Some fun info on these 2 new models.

    DENON

    Here's a picture of the X5200W - what a sweet looking AVR!

Here's another review, but do you really need an 9.2 surround system ??
The AVR-X5200W supports a 5.1.2, 5.1.4, 7.1.2, and even a full 11 channel Dolby Atmos setup; taking advantage of 7.1.4* or 9.1.2* Dolby Atmos configurations

Nope, I don't. I just think the new denons are cool and I want one.

    I just got this guy:

    http://www.soundandvision.com/conten...ci-av-receiver

    for a couple of reasons:

    • My X4000 started having bad problems (sent in for repair and will sell)
    • Due to size constraints and the X4000 failure, I sold my Outlaw Amp
    • Not planning on 4K for another 2 years at least
    • Amp section in this one is outstanding, and it is built in Japan (allegedly better overall quality)
    • Price is insane right now since the new Japan model is due soon (flagship is replaced every 2 years and 4520 is a 2012 model)

I've found it better to buy AVR's when going out, not when coming in, because the savings are ridiculous. You can get a refurb X4000 for like $600 bucks. After using it, if you are shopping, XT32 is a must. If you have dual subs, XT32 with sub EQ is a must.

Nice thing is I will come out close to even when I sell the X4000!

AC4L has new 4520's for crazy pricing.

Just got the beast in and setup. Good bit larger than an X4000, obviously more amp under the hood if you look inside.

Also nice to see two fans, reminds me of my Onkyo 818 that ran very cool even when I pushed it hard.

Arrived with up to date FW.

FYI, I ran spears and munsil and it Denon passes thru without mucking with the video signal per test patterns. I have video conversion and IP scaler off however. I know this is usually a given, but I did own an Onkyo that mucked with the patterns even with that off...
