Default So I just really did some looking into the status of 4K

What a mess. I wouldnt touch a 4K set for two more years.

4K blu-ray isnt finished, if you want to do Directv 4K you need an RVU set (Samsung only I think). Netflix is only doing 4K on certain brands, this is far more stupid than the 3D push...

Rant off. If I even get a display this year, Im just looking at bigger screens, 4K can suck it for now.

Haha - that's what I wondered. Of course in Best Buy (locally that is) they are showcasing the 4K sets.....yet we know there is little if any content right now. Seems very premature. And...I feel bad for the uneducated consumer who allows them to sell the set based on their video loops that ARE showing 4K content...

^30k hours give or take according to at least one LG rep. That's 10 years before half-life is reached when viewing for 8 hours a day. The only way to appreciate bigger sizes with OLED is 4K, so I'm willing to forgo a little futureproofing thanks to what OLED brings to the table.

I don't trust rep's responses, remember a rep's deal is to put a positive spin on their products.

This wasn't just a lowly rep but a CEO or someone in a similar position of authority IIRC.

They are making some nice sets now.

I jumped into UHD recently and like it so far. Movies look good.

Very happy with it. Big Bang for the buck. 1080p upscaling is outstanding . Lacks a little on anything less. Went though the 11 point scale using some numbers picked up on a forum we all know. The tablet remote is very nice as well.

Vizio has stepped up their game to compete in the better displays, I'd like to see the Reference series 65". I know you guys like the larger screens I've had all the highest end SonyTV's for many many years and have grown accustom to my 46" screen I wish Vizio had made a 55" NG 5999.00 I don't know if the street prices would vary much ?
