Default New Nintendo Console Debuting At E3 This June, More Powerful Than Xbox 360 and PS3?

    werthliving.com

Stephen Totilo - Kotaku — Nintendo's next console will debut at E3 in June, moving the maker of Mario and Zelda into the HD era. The news, first reported by Game Informer today, confirms rumors that have been swirling for months in the wake of slowing game releases from Nintendo.

Furthermore, we've heard that the machine will be more powerful than current-gen systems, meaning Nintendo, currently backing a Wii that is weaker in horsepower than the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, will be showing a new console that is more powerful than those current competitors.

More powerful then 360 and PS3. You'd hope so. It's over 5 year technology. Is it going to be motion control?

I would say yes. This would be in line with the supposed price cut for the Wii in June.

The Devs haven't even touched what the PS3 is capable of. The Cell makes the PS3 hard to program for though.

Most major retailers drop Wii price to $170

The price drop lends more credibility to the rumor that Nintendo is ready to unveil the Wii 2 at this June's E3 event, with a 2012 release date.

Target, Amazon, Wal-Mart and GameStop among other retailers now show the $169.99 price tag on the Wii bundle.

IMO, they would have to make the new console HD to compete with Xbox and PS3 in the future. Love to see it happen.

I just don't see it competing with Sony and MS. It's going to be more expensive then either of them, no 3rd party support, and no online to speak of.

It better have something the other two don't have or else it's not going to make it. Nintendo is a creative company, it'll be interesting to see what the hell this is.

New, more powerful Nintendo console for $400?

A boatload of rumored details have emerged on what Nintendo's next console could offer.
Citing anonymous sources, IGN reported yesterday that Nintendo's upcoming console, code-named Project Cafe, could hit store shelves as early as October with a starting price of $350 to $400.
For that price, customers will get a 1080p-capable console that's about the size of Microsoft's original Xbox 360 and comes with the R700 GPU from Advanced Micro Devices, IGN is reporting. That, combined with a triple-core IBM PowerPC CPU, could make Nintendo's upcoming console capable of accommodating games that are visually superior to those on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the sources say.

If they make it under $400 they might have a shot at some sales, but they have to get 3rd party support.

Nintendo confirms next Wii coming in 2012, will preview it at E3

Nintendo has just announced it plans to introduce a successor to its Wii console next year, a "playable model" of which will be shown off at the E3 gaming expo in Los Angeles coming up on June 7th. No details are available as to how the next Wii will improve on the first one, though we imagine Nintendo will be happy if it simply matches the success of its current-gen home entertainer --

I still have that one. Lol

Displays are like 100% cotton t-shirts. Always buy a size larger than you think you'll need, as they tend to shrink over time.

Awh yes, those were the days along with my Atari.

Nintendo knows they have to do something to compete with the likes of Xbox and PS3. Let's hope they also add many adult oriented games and network support to it.

I think they have to, to make it a contender.

Ya know, it'd be nice to be able to stream REGULAR over the air NBC, ABC, FOX, and CBS stations through the Wii consoles like you can Netflix
